May Rollup

What a busy month!  I can’t believe how much I’ve neglected writing in the blog, so I’m gonna blame work for that! 😛  I’ve been really busy trying to put together purchase plans and distributing and configuring new computer systems for the library that my time has just disappeared on me.  By the time I get home I just wanted to vedge in front of a game or do some reading. On the gaming front, I was jumping into WAR fairly regularly, playing both my Order and Chaos toons.  Then … Continue reading

Crazy stuff…

I”m not sure what it is that’s going around, maybe my wallet has the swine flu or something, but I’ve been buying some interesting, eclectic, or just downright odd things lately.  Of course at the expense of practical things I probably SHOULD be spending money on… like tires. I just got my Saitek “Cyborg” keyboard today, and I really like it.  The keys are WAY better than my old Logitech keyboard – which was just a plain-jane black keyboard.  I really like the lighting effects and all of the other bells and whistles that … Continue reading

Monthly Roll-Up . . . a little late

OY!  It has been totally crazy around my neck of the woods and I feel like I haven’t had any time for myself or to do things that I enjoy, like posting to the blog!  At least we were able to fill the open position at work in my dept. so hopefully things won’t be quite as fever pitch as they’ve been – but the new person won’t be starting for another couple of weeks.  So until then, things are probably going to keep up the frantic pace, after that, … Continue reading

Failure of a game

What constitutes a game’s failure as measured by the computer gaming industry? How about as defined by their target audience, the players?  I ask this because I found it quite amusing (if not a bit naive) that a gamer commenting on a Forbes column (special thanks to Syncaine over at Hardcore Casual for turning me onto this) used a couple of games as examples of failure which are quite successful in my book. And I’d bet they’re viewed as successful by the industry as well: Guild Wars and Warhammer: Age of Reckoning.  I … Continue reading

2008 is done

My first full calendar year of blogging – woot!  I actually hit my 1-year anniversary last September, but having a full Jan-Dec. calendar year of blogs is kind of cool too! So let’s see… as for gaming in 2008 I did stints in EVE, LotRO, AoC, DAoC, WAR, Wiz101, WoW, Hellgate, CoX, and minimally some Guild Wars (mainly to see what my annual gift pets were, LOL).  I think I’m getting bored with the whole genre though as I can’t seem stay interested in any one of them more than 2-3 … Continue reading
