Weekending

With the weekend nearly upon us, I’m planning out my strategy.  I’ve got a lot of gaming that I’d like to fool around with AND I also have a lot of chores that I need to get done.  Hmmm, I wonder who will win this battle?  Fun or Drudgery?  Tough call, so I’ll probably try to mix it up a bit and see how it goes. I’m trying to give Champions Online a fair shake to see if it can eventually convince me to subscribe or not, so I’m sure … Continue reading

Champions Online – Day 2

Cryptic couldn’t do worse than they did on Day 1, so things are much better today than they were yesterday.  I’m doing a dl of the client on a different PC today, and the patching process seems to be a bit more robust that yesterday.  It’s slow, very slow, but at least it’s not continually dropping, timing out, or just plain not working as was the case yesterday. Hopefully I’ll actually get to spend some quality time “in game” this evening.  I’ll keep ya’ posted. [a few hours later] Well I … Continue reading

Champions – not a champ of a patcher…

Just waiting around for my patches to download for the Champions Online “marketing ploy” … I mean “open beta.”  It’s having issues, which really is not unexpected, but – they should have allowed folks to pre-patch/download over the past week or so to help alleviate and discover these issues.  Oh well, I’ve done what they’ve suggested to “work around” some of the issues, but it’s still acting odd.  It seems to consistently hang at ~20-21MB, even after attempting Cryptic’s “work around.”  🙁  Hopefully it will work better this evening when I get … Continue reading

So Close, but no cigar . . .

I”m always on the lookout for a gadget that approximates “My Perfect Gadget.”  And the one that caught my eye this time was the Sony mylo. It’s the right form factor, but it’s still missing some major components.  And being Sony, it’s WAY overpriced.  Sony and Apple both seem to think their stuff is hot shit, well it ain’t – not until it gets a bit more functional – read expandable and non-proprietary. What would almost make the mylo’s price acceptable would be: Built in GPS Cellular network connectivity (optional … Continue reading

Month at a glance…

July was pretty much a month of the doldrums as far as gaming is concerned.  I skilled up some new stuff in EVE Online and peeked in on WAR a few times, played a few rounds of BattleForge, and that’s about it.  A friend of mine keeps trying to convince me to come back to LOTRO and another is wondering if I’d like to check out Conan again, and I’m not really interested in either of those.   A couple of new games are on the horizon, but I don’t think … Continue reading
