Skyrim first thoughts; Good, but not great.

First the bad news: Don’t get me wrong, I’m digging the game and the story so far, but what I’m not liking are the very hokey controls.  It was obviously developed for console and not a PC environment.  It’s even worse than Oblivion, which also had a hair-brained interface.  Flipping through weapons and spells is downright tedious, even if/when you get them “favorited” (didn’t know they surfed the web in these RPG universes – ugh).  Also the lack of information in the so-called manual is appalling.  It’s about as helpful … Continue reading

Slow…

Ok, I know I’ve been neglecting the blog for a good while now. But hopefully that is about to change.  I think I’m finally getting settled into my new home and job out in Las Vegas and things seem to be getting back to some modicum of normalcy.  Only time will tell. I just updated my PC last weekend, so that was nice.  I did the upgrade because so many new games are going to be coming out soon for the PC.  I believe Skyrim will kick things off, followed by … Continue reading

Been super busy

I apologize for not keeping the blog up-to-date lately.  With the new job and trying to settle into a new town (Las Vegas), I’ve been very busy just trying to get my life back in order and somewhat normal again.  I’ve also joined up with a few different meet-up groups to try and kickstart both my social and creative pursuits.  I even started my own meet-up group the other day, so we’ll see how that goes. On the gaming side of life, I’ve mainly been playing Rift, and I still … Continue reading

Ok, so I actually sometimes like some of the songs my Facebook friends are posting, and it’s interesting to see what they associate with music.  BUT, some of the “subjects” for the day’s song are so generic, it’s as if someone with absolutely no imagination nor life/music experiences came up with the list (like, oh hey,  a pre-teen?!).   Anyways, here goes my shot, all in one day, to fill in the blanks on this so-called challenge, and why some of the “subjects” are so BAD: Day 1 – Your Favorite Song.  Ok, … Continue reading

Rift: The Necromancer

Ok, so I’ve played my Necro up to level 50 and it was easy-peasy.  I use a full necro build. After some discussion with guildies, it’s very apparent that some folks just don’t “get it” with how to play a necro properly.  My pet almost never dies, and my character only dies if I’ve really fubar’d for some reason – Feign Death is pretty much a “get out of soulwalk free” skill. Early on, you really want to be working your way towards your “bread and butter” skills, which are: Soul Purge (your “I Win” … Continue reading
