Monthly Roll-Up . . . a little late

OY!  It has been totally crazy around my neck of the woods and I feel like I haven’t had any time for myself or to do things that I enjoy, like posting to the blog!  At least we were able to fill the open position at work in my dept. so hopefully things won’t be quite as fever pitch as they’ve been – but the new person won’t be starting for another couple of weeks.  So until then, things are probably going to keep up the frantic pace, after that, … Continue reading

Google is following me!

Just a funny thing I noticed while I was preparing material for my “Gardening Bug” post.  I posted a link to Google’s “street view” of my old house, which shows my pick-up in the driveway.  Then later in the post I described and posted another “street view” of an outrageously high priced house down the street from my apartement.  Curious, I “scrolled down the street” to my apt. building, and lo’ and behold, there’s my pickup parked in the far right stall! I’ve only lived there since last April, so Google’s street … Continue reading

Been caught slackin’

Actually I’ve just been slacking on blog posts a little bit ‘cuz I’ve been so busy doing other stuff.  Over the weekend I did a lot of Warhammer gaming, again I’ve been concentrating on the Order side of the house and getting somewhat frustrated at the huge Destro over-population on that server (I think Badlands, but I can’t remember for sure, that might be where I play destro, lol!).  Anyways, RvR there is just an exercise in frustration, I think due in large part to two (very large) guilds that … Continue reading

Failure of a game

What constitutes a game’s failure as measured by the computer gaming industry? How about as defined by their target audience, the players?  I ask this because I found it quite amusing (if not a bit naive) that a gamer commenting on a Forbes column (special thanks to Syncaine over at Hardcore Casual for turning me onto this) used a couple of games as examples of failure which are quite successful in my book. And I’d bet they’re viewed as successful by the industry as well: Guild Wars and Warhammer: Age of Reckoning.  I … Continue reading

A Warhammer Weekend

So I spent pretty much all of my gametime this weekend in Warhammer.  So far, I really like it a lot.  It’s got a lot going for it, and I definitely find it more fun now than any of the other MMO’s out there. I was also somewhat amazed (again) at how cool the design is in keeping Destruction and Order on the same maps, yet segregated for realm related questing.  You don’t get a lot of toadies from the other realm distracting/messing with you while you’re out doing hum-drum questing … Continue reading
