30-Day Song Challenge; The Remix (First Third 1-10)

One of my Facebook friends redid the song subjects for the 30-day song challenge. Now it at least reflects subjects that apply to people that are more than ten years old.

Day 1 – A Song that Makes You Feel Like a Drag Queen; “Some Velvet Moring” by Lee Hazelwood & Nancy Sinatra. I saw a great drag routine done to this song, so I had to pick this one. A couple others also spring to mind that are pretty regular drag fare; “It’s Raining Men” by the Weather Girls and  “Ring My Bell” by Anita Ward.  Dunno why, but it just seems like a song that would be popular with drag queens 😛

Day 2 – A Song by the First Artist You Saw Live, in Concert.  The first concert I went to was when my Mom took me to see Neil Diamond when I was 10 years old in 1976. It was his “Beautiful Noise” Tour.  But this is the song I remember most, and I love it; “The Dancing Bumble Bee” by Neil Diamond

Day 3 – A Song by the Last Artist You Saw Live/In Concert. The last concert I went to was several years ago (1997) in Albuquerque, The Rolling Stones “Bridges to Babylon” tour with Sheryl Crow as the opening act.  It was AWESOME. “Anybody Seen My Baby” by The Rolling Stones.

Day 4 – A Song You Love That was Popular Before You Were Born. This song came out the year before I was born, but the band was also very popular through the 70s and 80s. “My Generation” by The Who.

Day 5 – A Song From the First Album You Owned.  Well, the first album that I bought for myself was “Dark Side of the Moon” by Pink Floyd.  I bought it for single track, which I still LOVE to this day, it’s one of my all-time favorite pieces of music; “Time” by Pink Floyd. (it gives me goose bumps whenever I listen to this song)

Day 6 – A Song that Makes You Feel Like Trailer-Park Trash. Well, if it’s something from my own collection, it’s gotta be something by Guns-N-Roses. I think I’m gonna hafta go with “I Used to Love Her” by GnR.  Total trashiness.

Day 7 – A Song that Reminds You of a Job You Hated.  The job was flipping burgers at a bowling alley cafe. And the song; “Cheesburger in Paradise” By Jimmy Buffett.

Day 8 – A Song that Reminds You of Your Mother.  This one is easy. My Mom plays this song on the piano, and I love it. “Memory” by Elain Paige from the Broadway musical “Cats.”

Day 9 – A Song that Reminds You of Your Father. This one was pretty easy too. My folks used to listen to this guy quite often when I was young and I’ve always associated this music with my Dad. “The Lonely Bull” By Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.

Day 10 – A Song that Reminds You of Your Best Friend. This is another easy one, “Your My Best Friend” by Queen.
