Month In Review

Oy, I can’t believe January is already done with.  It’s been a hectic month for me at work so I haven’t been gaming nor blogging nearly as much as I would’ve liked to.  Been burning the midnight oil (and beyond) for a couple weeks now  trying to get a project ready for “prime-time” by next week – no fun! In the gaming arena, I re-subscribed my EVE accounts – mainly to get my mining ‘toon into a Hulk, and my military ‘toon up to a point where he can use … Continue reading

EVE revisited

I’ve been back in EVE online for a few days now and I’m starting to remember why I left last Fall.  Mining is oh-so-boring, and I don’t really have the skillz to do decent mission running – AND while CCP gives you the illusion of having multiple characters, you can’t actually DO anything with those extra character slots because you can only have one character in training at a time – GRR!  Reminding me why, way back when, I accused CCP of highway robbery  – here they are charging their … Continue reading

Enter the Maelstrom of Mining

Oy, I can’t believe I re-subscribed to EVE Online, hehe, and to do mining of all things – LOL!  Honestly though, I went right into mining because that’s how I left all my rigs set-up and it’s familiar territory to get me back into the game. So I’m dual-boxing as well, here’s what I’ve got for a set-up so far: Main “Miner” is Orobas, Amarr/Ni-Kunni Retriever Mining Barge w/ 2 Strip-Miner II’s, Cap Battery I, and 2 Co-Processor I’s, and 5 HobGob’s This guy’s main training is in Industry with: Industry-5, … Continue reading

Well two topics seem to be pulsing around the blogosphere lately:  Wherefore art thou Sci-Fi MMO?   Is there Hope for a SciFi MMORPG? : From Ancient Gaming Noob Why Fantasy? : From Terra Nova Shut Up. We’re Talking #18: From Virgin Worlds/Common Sense Gamer  And Joseph Campbell bashing.: The Heroes Journey Sucks : From MMOG Nation 8 Reasons Why the Hero’s Journey Sucks : From io9 Topic 1:  Why so much fantasy and so little Sci-Fi One thing I disagree with on some of the comments folks have made regarding the lack of Sci-Fi is the misconception that Sci-Fi is … Continue reading

The perfect mouse…

A couple days ago I wrote about my perfect techie gadget, but I’ve also wondered why computer mice are so awful.  I hate them. Mainly because every single one is made of plastic. You see, I work on the computer all day long and then I game all night, so the mouse is always “in palm.”  And being non-breathable plastic it makes my palm sweat. Disgusting, I know, but there’s such a simple solution.  Rough up that plastic a bit so there are air spaces between the skin and the … Continue reading
