Weekend Ending

The weekend is almost over and I did get most of my “goals” met.  Of course I set the bar pretty low… Get in some gaming, do a few chores, and get out the apt. at least once.  And I met all of those! WOOT!  As for gaming, I spent most of my time mining in EVE trying to get enough ISK together to buy my Orca. I still haven’t got it all together yet, but I went from a measly 150M to just over 300M, so I almost doubled my ISK.  I need ~450M to get the Orca, so another few serious mining sessions should get me there.  And then I’ll really be able to get serious on mining.

I also played quite a bit of Champions Online. And it IS starting to grow on me a bit.  I’m still not convinced it will be able to hold my subscription for more than a month or two, which is about the same as CoH, but I will probably end up buying it and playing around for awhile to see how it goes.  I’m still not convinced of the MMO model they use, which is basically the same kind of architecture that CoH uses – people subdivided into a ton of various instances to facilitate load balancing – but it ends up fragmenting your population.  I guess it’s good in some ways, ‘cuz you eliminate player lag quite a bit in what would otherwise be severely overloaded areas, but I’m still not convinced.  I really miss the feeling you get from other non-segmented MMO’s where there is the potential to run into just tons of people… OH well, I’ll still give ’em a try once they go live.

In other news, I went kinda crazy over in the MP3 section of Amazon.com and bought some albums from bands that I don’t have any previous experience with, and so far I’m really liking it quite a lot. I ended up getting:

I really like ’em so far.  I hope you had a great weekend and that the coming week finds you in a good place. Enjoy!

  1. As a matter of interest, where in all Zarquon were you mining that can raise 150Mil in 2 days ? I can only think of a 0.0 pocket that the alliances haven’t found, and that is *caked* with hi-grade merquosit, or whatever it is they call the stuff (the tuff that I’ll never see my entire life).

    Jenni, Capsuleer and another Orca-hunter.

  2. I multi-box with 3 accounts. One is a max-spec’d mining forman (including implants/bio-links and level V training) piloting a Claymore with 3 mining links enabled (allows faster mining laser cycling and up to 22Km range). One is sitting in a Hulk constantly mining with type II crystals, and the third is in a max-cargo spec’d Mammoth continually hauling from the belt to the station.

Plus my miner has rank 4/5 refining skills for Kernite, Veldspar, Scordite, and Pyroxenes (sp?) (plagioclase too, but there isn’t any of that in Amarr space). Usually I just mine Veld, Scord, and Kernite if I can find it. I’m also based out in Amarr space, so finding Kernite isn’t hard at all (it’s even in .8), and with trit prices what they are, Veld and Scord are very lucrative.

As for regions, I tend to move around Kador, Tash Murkon, and Domain. I just look for systems that have lots of belts (10+) and no stations (this tends to disuade “macro-miners”), so there isn’t much competition. Having the dedicated hauler is a must in this situation. Although, sometimes I’m lucky and there’s a system with a refining station without much traffic – these tend to be on “dead-end” routes.

Once I get the Orca, my hauler is in training to pilot a Hulk, he can already pilot a retriever. I’m hoping that the cargo/ore hold in the Orca will be able to hold an entire belt, but I’m not sure, we’ll have to see how that plays out. I’ll lose one of the mining links since the Orca only has 3 high slots. I’ll fit the range and cycle time links and a tractor beam will replace the mining capacitor link.

Hope that helps – The nice thing with the foreman is I can fleet anyone in the system, and they get the benefits, they don’t have to be in the same belt, so that’s pretty cool. Good luck on your mining and getting your Orca. I’m stoked!
