Suppa Fast!

Or at least quite a bit faster than I was yesterday at this time.  What’s fast?  My cable connection!  I was on a 3Mb connection with CableOne, but during my massive download of WAR the other day, I noticed that CableOne throttles your connection based on your bandwidth usage, by at least a third.  What I was expecting to be a 4-5hr download ended up taking more like 18 hours because they throttled me down to a 90KB+/- connection – ugh.  I’d been planning to upgrade to their 8Mb connection anyways, so I did that today so now if/when they throttle me down, I’ll still be connecting at around 2-3Mb minimum.  Oh well, the things we do to keep a decent ‘net connection.  And in most cases I think I’ll still be running at 8Mb speeds, just during those game downloads and massive updates I may hit the “over-bandwidth” mark…

I wish fast DSL was avail. here, I’d go for that since Qwest “guarantees” their speeds and don’t penalize you for bandwidth usage.  Even better would be the Fiber-To-The-Home thing they have in Utah (UTOPIA) Now THAT would be Awesome! Where for the same price I’m paying for a measly 8Mb line, I could get a 50Mb connection! Wow!!
