Planting Progress

I’ve planted quite a few things since getting up here to Utah, and just to get the hang of starting things from seed in preparation for some serious nursery work. So far nothing has grown into their first “true leaves,” but I have had quite a few things sprout over the last week or so.

Here’s what I’ve got sprouted so far:

  • Alyssum ‘Basket of Gold’ (Aurinia saxatilis)
  • Angel’s Trumpets (Datura stramonium)
  • Hibiscus (Pink, White, Red, ‘Texas Star’) (Hibiscus moscheutos)
  • Hyacinth bean (Lablab purpureus)
  • Ma Huang (Ephedra sinica)

Things I’ve planted, but have yet to sprout:

  • Alamo vine (Merremia dissecta)
  • Balloon Flower (Platycodon grandiflorus)
  • Basil (Red Rubin, Dark Opal, Cinnimon, Purple Ruffles); (Ocimum basilicum)
  • Coleus ‘Rainbow’ (Solenostemon blumei)
  • Coreopsis (Coreopsis lanceolata)
  • Cosmos ‘White’ (Cosmos bipinnatus)
  • Formosa Lily (Lilium formosanum)
  • Henbane (Hyoscyamus niger)
  • Lovage (Levisticum officinale)
  • Passion Flower ‘Maypop’ (Passiflora incarnata)

I still have a bunch of other stuff to try, but I’m out of bench space at the moment until I can clear up some more of the greenhouse of all the other stuff that’s been stored in there over the years. Hopefully that will be soon.

  1. Just was going to add that as of yesterday, the Henbane and the Alamo Vine have sprouted. I also did a minor ammendment to my marigold flat in hopes of convincing those seeds to sprout. We’ll see how things progress…
