When your ‘net goes out…

Play Hellgate! LOL!  My DSL service was interrupted the other day for a considerable amount of time while Qwest was out working on their various boxes around the corner from my neighborhood (there’s like 4 green metal “boxes” nearly the size of Volkswagen’s over there).  Anyways, during the “down-time” I rediscovered the single-player mode of Hellgate, which I must say I very much enjoyed. It was great to jump in and start blowing things up or cutting them to shreds.  Still, it reminded me of a couple game mechanics that … Continue reading

Spring Begins

My first crocuses started blooming today.  I was beginning to wonder if the daffodils were going to beat them, since they’ve been forming buds over the past few days, then BAM! out pop the crocus blooms, hehe.  That means I’ve got a TON of work to get done in the garden this coming week.  I still have to chop down all the dead flowers, vines, etc. from last season and prep the flower beds for this coming season.  I’ll probably leave the pond prep for a couple more weeks, cuz … Continue reading

Goodbye EVE… Again…

Well I’ve decided to axe my two EVE accounts, again.  It’s just not fulfilling enough to keep me hooked for very long.  One thing they could easily change that would keep me playing for much, much longer each time I re-subscribe would be to allow alts.  No, I mean really allow them – so they can train and actually contribute to their comrades, not the little, near useless errand runner things they are now. And, to allow more of them.  Three characters per account is stingy in the extreme for today’s … Continue reading

It’s near Spring

It was warm enough here to work out in the yard in a tee shirt today.  Mostly was doing some “Spring Cleaning,” raking up dead stuff and removing the old soaker hoses, etc.  Noticed that my daffodils are already a couple inches up and the crocus will probably start blooming by next weekend.  Most of the shruby herbs (rosemary, lavender, thyme) look very healthy.  It looks like the growing season is starting off very well.  I really need to get out there and dig up some of the flower gardens and get them … Continue reading

An Oblivion Roller Coaster?

Ok, so I’ve been thinking about this off-and-on since I first started playing Oblivion way back whenever it first came out and I saw a sword or some other piece of loot go sliding halfway down the mountain…  I immediately thought to myself, “Hmm, I wonder if the physics engine in this game is good enough to make a roller coaster, or at least an ‘alpine slide.’”  And of course something bright and shiny caught my eye and I shelved the idea.  It keeps popping up in the back of … Continue reading
