I spent the weekend mainly flying around in FSX or in CoV. In FSX I’ve been flying over the San Rafael Reef/Swell and Waterpocket Fold to get the tileproxy scenery loaded in preparation for making another FSX Movie with some more canyonlands barnstorming – definitely my style of flight. I would really like to download or learn how to re-skin some of those airplanes though. Well I’ve been trying to put together my FSX/TileProxy/FRAPS videos together into a singular “music video” type format to upload to YouTube and all I have to say so far is that it has been somewhat of an exercise in frustration. Well I didn’t get a whole lot done this weekend. I did some running around in City of Villains and in Conan. I’m enjoying CoV more though, so I spent more time there. Probably the biggest turn off I had on Conan this weekend is that I’m supposedly on a “care-bear” PvE server, but as soon as I ventured forth from Tortage I was summarily ganked by a Necro 12+levels higher than myself for no apparent reason other than I was running the opposite direction as he was. Ok, well I broke down the other night and bought Age of Conan. It was kind of late by the time I got it all installed and patched (about 2-hours total, with high-speed DVD and ‘net connection). First bug was that I wasn’t getting any of the voice acting – apparently this happens to A LOT of folks and I quickly found the solution through a Google-Search (basically setting the sound to Stereo and then moving the slider bar to the highest quality possible). Well I just re-subb’d to City of (Heroes/Villains)….again… The nice thing about CoX is that you can just login and start blasting. That is once you get through the costume maker, which the first time you play will probably hypnotize you for hours upon hours while you customize your character. I’ve never run into ANYONE who looks exactly like me in that game, which is a refreshing departure from most MMO’s – although they’re starting to get better at this nowadays.
