Whatta week!

It’s been a very busy and long week at work for me this passed week, as evidenced by the lack of blogging very much.  But I kind of knew it would be.  Bringing a new website “live” always shakes out any missed bugs or typos or whatever.  And no matter how many time you ask clients beforehand to look at things and make sure they’re working the way they expected, they never really seem to do so until the day the site actually goes live.  So in comes a landslide … Continue reading

One Month down…

January was an interesting month.  I feel like I really cut down on my gaming and upped my reading.  I did get some tangible work done on my game development “pet project.”  I did a fair amount of game shuffling , moving from primarily gaming in EVE to Wizard101, and then on to City of Heroes. Including a couple of forays into Warhammer, Oblivion, and FSX.  On the reading front I’m still reading Game Development through Lenses, and another book about Creating Your Life, or some such thing; it’s somewhat similar to the What Color … Continue reading

Lemegeton – A new edition

[Edit: Jan 31] Ok, big “DUH!” here.  LOL.  If I would’ve taken a bit more time looking through the work that Skinner and Rankine are publishing, I would’ve realised that the “Veritable Key …” is what most of us “old timers” refer to as “The Greater Key of Solomon.”  Versus the “Lesser Key,” which is the Lemegeton- which Skinner and Rankine issued under the name “The Goetia of Dr. Rudd;”  SO, I still need to get me a copy of Dr. Rudd’s Goetia and Skinner & Rankine’s “The Keys to the Gateway of Magic,” … Continue reading

The Game Experience

After reading a bit from the Art of Game Design, I’ve been trying to focus on what kinds of experiences I’d like players to have within the game that I’m designing; The Templars of Ra.  Of course there are the obvious, that I’d like players to have fun, and to enjoy playing the game, but those are general experiences that don’t easily lend themselves toward all of the specific experiences that add up to a fun and enjoyable game.  So I need to get down to specifics. I guess one … Continue reading

Busy weekend behind me

I actually got quite a few of the things done I talked about last Friday over the weekend.  I was able to goof around a bit in City of Heroes, I made a new character based on Dr. Strange (real original, eh?).  I also got a couple of levels on my robotics Minion Master villain. I wish they would offer a whole double XP week instead of just a weekend 😛 I also got some work on my game design document.  Really it’s a separate document writing up information through the “Lenses” … Continue reading
