EVE Battleships

I’ve been playing around with some fittings for my new battleships.  I’m used to flying gun/missile boats, like the Raven and Maelstrom – but in trying to make a more usable multi-box setup, I’m exploring drone based combat.  Not wanting to dive into the long training stint to get into the Dominix, since this is just testing the waters, I went for ships I can already fly.  Which meant getting into an Armageddon and a Typhoon.  I left my EWAR pilot in his Scorpion.  BTW, did ya’ ever notice how much the Armageddon looks like the Rocketeer?  Just thought I’d throw that out there…

Anyways, what brought this on is that I finally completed enough Level 1 missions in Amarr space to graduate to Level 2 Missions.  Of course they’re still going to be a piece of cake using battleships, but it’ll be something new to fly, since I’ve been using cruisers for the Level 1’s.

All three have very non-standard fits, so it’ll be interesting to see if they work or not.  The main thing is to try and make them as non-managed as possible so I can split my attention three ways.  And since these are just mission running ships, I’m not fitting any PvP modules at all, offensive or defensive.  So here’s what I’ve got so far, we’ll see how it goes.

Tri-Box Scorpion:

[This is my “youngest” pilot originally created to be a hauler and EWAR pilot. Not too many type II mods yet, and this is probably the most “managed” ship as well so it may not work out if it ends up needing too much attention…]

Highs:

  • 4 Cruise Launchers, currently with cataclysm cruise missiles
  • 1 Heavy Nos
  • 1 Drone Link

Mediums:

  • 4 Multispec Jammer II’s
  • 1 Target Painter
  • 1 Sensor Booster with range script
  • 1 Large Shield Extender, for some buffer
  • 1 Shield Recharger

Lows:

  • 1 Damage Control Unit
  • 1 Multi Sensor Backup Array II
  • 1 Ballistic Control System
  • 1 Hypnos Signal Distortion Amplifier

Drones:

  • 2 Hammerhead SD-600 (sensor dampener drones)
  • 2 Vespa EC-600 (ECM drones)
  • 1 Valkyrie TP-600 (Target Painting Drone)

“Drone-a-geddon”

[This is my first “alt” brought in to be a miner extraordinaire. Which means his combat skills are also sub-par, so there aren’t many type II mods on this ship either.  With its tanking ability, this will probably be the first ship into the mission to draw and try to hold aggro]

Highs:

  • 4 Heavy Nos
  • 1 Tractor Beam
  • 1 Salvager
  • 2 Drone Links

Mediums:

  • 100MN Afterburner II
  • 2 Cap Recharger II’s

Lows:

  • 2 Large Armor Reps
  • 2 EANM’s (Energized Adaptive Nano Membranes)
  • 1 “grail” Regenerative Plating
  • 1 Capacitor Flux Coil II
  • 1 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plate
  • 1 Damage Control Unit

Drones:

5 Hammerhead II’s, and some Ogre II’s if I think I need them.  Currently training up sentries as well, not sure if I’ll really need those though.  We’ll see.

Drone Typhoon:

Highs:

  • 4 Cruise Launchers, currently loaded with cataclysm cruise missiles
  • 2 Drone Links
  • 1 Tractor Beam
  • 1 Salvager

Mediums:

  • 1 Target Painter
  • 2 Sensor Boosters, 1 with scan resolution, 1 with range
  • 1 Cap Recharger II

Lows:

  • 2 Ballistic Control System II’s (BCS)
  • 1 EANM
  • 1 N-Type Regenerative Membrane
  • 1 Cap Power Relay
  • 2 Large Armor Reps

Drones:

A mix of Hammerhead II’s and Valkyrie II’s.

The main tactic would be for the ‘geddon to warp into the mission first at close range, aggro the mobs and drop drones. Nos’ing anything and everything.  Next the ‘phoon drops in at range, drops drones and starts acquiring targets for drones and missiles. Finally the Scorp warps in at range, drops drones – acquires targets to jam and fire missiles at.
